15 Oct NEW DRAWING TALENT AWARD 2019
The 2nd edition of Drawing Room Lisbon took place between October 9th and 13th, at the Sociedade Nacional de Belas Artes, Lisbon.
Viarco and Drawing Room gave the New Drawing Talent Award to the Argentinean artist, Matías Ercole, form Miranda Bosch Gallery, which main offices are located in Buenos Aires and NY. Matías Ercole works with sgraffito that transforms imaginary landscapes in a complete and disjointed image, like if he is rewriting operations of an artificial scenography. In his works, nature finds an unintended tension that immerses to those who watch, in an unsettling atmosphere, unclear between the representation and abstraction.
This artist lives and works in Buenos Aires and graduated in Visual Arts by the Universidade Nacional das Artes. He received a scholarship from the Centro de Pesquisa Artística (Center of Artistic Recearch) by the START Foundation and made residencies in Barcelona (HANGAR) and Uruguai. He won the Becar Cultura scholarship from the Ministry of Culture de La Nación Argentina in 2018, Turim, Italy, with the research work “La historia de un rayo”, about the stories of his works and experimentation with new materials.
Drawing Room Lisbon, the contemporary drawing fair ended its 2nd edition in Portugal with nearly 6000 visitor and with results that makes Mónica Alvarez Careaga, the fair director, very satisfied with this edition, stating that “this is the drawing moment, and this new Drawing Room edition in Portugal is the proof of it. In addition to the new galleries and artists, and the significant number of visitors, with the professional public particularly highlighted, this year’s balance is very gratifying, excelling the last edition”.
