THE ONLY PENCIL FACTORY IN PORTUGAL SINCE 1907

It has a history of more than 100 years and still preserves centenary machines.

The city of São João da Madeira has its origin in industry, and it is not by chance that it uses the nickname of city of work.

Being the smallest municipality in Portugal it contains, in its area of 8km square, a large and diversified industrial web, counting on unique companies in the country that are milestones in our collective history.

Aware of the value that the industry represents for the municipality, the City Council in a partnership with Viarco, Fepsa, Cortadoria Nacional, Everest, Helsar, Heliotextil, The Millinery Museum, Footwear Technological Center of Portugal and the Center for Professional Training of Footwear Industry, created the innovative project of Industrial Tourism with the objective to show the best of what is produced in this city.

This is an opportunity for visitors to learn about different manufacturing processes in a fast, convenient and very educational way.
